I stayed here while looking for an apartment by Hobby airport. No breakfast but free cofee and free wifi. Very close to hobby airport. Lots of good places to eat by this hotel. Also close to a huge doller store that has very inexpensive foods to cook.

I stayed here for a week on business a few months ago and not only were the desk staff rude, I noticed that they rent their rooms by the hour-I was in the office a couple of times during that week when someone would come in and request two hours, one and a half hours, etc. I don't think it's sanitary, much less legal. I did notice that they seem to have 24 hour maid service, so perhaps that's why. There were also a few nights that I couldn't sleep due to a strong smell of drugs. Mind you, I'm a smoker, so I have a smoking room, but I shouldn't have to be subjected to coming into my room after a day at work and my room smelling like a drug den, nor having to deal with smelling it at all. They should work on their ventilation a bit.

First off let me say how much I used to LOVE these hotels. Recently my girlfriend and I were in town. So we checked in at the palace. A friend of hers we had not seen in awhile brought us some lunch. Well next thing there is someone banging on the door. I open up and the manager is kicking us out of the hotel???? I was in shock. Apparently NOBODY can visit you. That's absolutely ridiculous. They lost a loyal customer in me. The Scottish inn is cheaper AND better in my opinion. And they couldn't PAY ME to ever stay in another palace ever again.

Like the previous reviewer, I was looking for a moderately place to stay while in town for a conference. It was a last minute booking so I wasn't expecting to be able to find much. This motel exceeded all expectations: the rooms are very clean and look newly renovated, the bed was exceptionally large and comfortable, and the room is larger than the usual US standard room. There were a couple of very nice touches: large mini fridge with NO minibar stuff in it, so I had full use of the fridge, and accessible outlets scattered through the room (6 plugs on two walls, all easy to get to). The staff are also exceptional. My husband has a recent injury and so needed a ground floor room--and they hustled around to get one cleaned for us, and were very helpful all around. The cleaning staff do a fantastic job. I would not hesitate to book at the Palace Inn, and in fact am planning another stay on my next trip to Houston.

I needed a cheap hotel close to downtown because I was volunteering at a major convention. Those kinds of hotels ate typically gross and full of unsavory people. Enter an oasis at this hotel! The rooms are spacious. I could roll over in the bed three times, and still have more bed! The water pressure was strong, very strong. They insist on daily cleaning, so those rooms are squeeky clean. There was no noise at all. The counter staff was super helpful, friendly, and chatty. Add in the bonus of a convenience store right next door, and I was in heaven. I have stayed at Hiltons that didn't come close to the joy I had here. Oh yeah, I would stay here any time. I am a single female who felt totally safe. The price was unbelievable.
